Being played in Las Vegas instead of Korea due to the pandemic, Rory McIlroy defeated Collin Morikawa by one stroke to grab his 20th TOUR victory in his first start of the season.

The Northern Irishman shot all four rounds under par, including a 10-under 62 in the third round that moved him within two strokes of the 54-hole leader, Rickie Fowler. Fowler and 36-hole leader Keith Mitchell would go on to finish three strokes back of McIlroy in a tie for third.

Adam Scott, Aaron Wise, Sam Burns, and Talor Gooch finished tied for fifth, four strokes back.

The CJ Cup will be the first official event of the 2022-23 season for many of the TOUR's top stars. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and defending champion and world No. 2 McIlroy will both be making their first official starts with this week's tournament.

Other stars making their first TOUR starts of 2022-23 include world No. 5 Jon Rahm, No. 8 and two-time CJ Cup winner Justin Thomas, No. 9 Morikawa, and No. 10 Matt Fitzpatrick.

Tom Kim, the 20-year-old who's taken the PGA by storm in the past few months and recently grabbed his second TOUR win with the Shriners Children's Open a few weeks ago, will also compete. He's joined by Bradley and Max Homa as three of the season's four winners tee it up this week.

Congaree Golf Club is a 7,655-yard par 71 course located in Ridgeland, South Carolina. It was designed by Tom Fazio in 2017 and will be making its second TOUR venue appearance after hosting the 2021 Palmetto Championship.

The TOUR's 72-hole record at Congaree was set by Garrick Higgo when he won the 2021 Palmetto Championship with a score of 273. That year, the lowest 18-hole score on the course was a 64, shot by three players.
