Aaron Wise withdrew from the upcoming Masters Tournament to prioritize his mental health, the 2018 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year announced in an Instagram post Friday.
"Golf is just as much a mental game as it is one of physical skill, and the mental piece of it has been a struggle for me recently," he wrote.
"I don't take the significance of playing at Augusta lightly but know that I need to take some time away to focus on my mental health so I can get back to competing at a level I am proud of."
Wise competed at the Masters in 2019, finishing 17th.
He won the 2018 Byron Nelson by three strokes for his sole victory on the PGA TOUR.
The 26-year-old is 45th on the Official World Golf Ranking.
The 2023 Masters begins April 6.
