Jim Furyk has been named captain of the U.S. team for the 2024 Presidents Cup, tournament and PGA TOUR officials announced Monday.

Furyk, a 17-time TOUR winner, served as an assistant captain for the Americans in the 2015 and 2017 editions of the competition and captained the U.S. team at the Ryder Cup in 2018.

"Being selected by my peers to take on the role as captain of the U.S. Team for the 2024 Presidents Cup is truly an honor that I am humbled and excited to accept," Furyk said.

The event will take place at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal from Sept. 24-29, 2024. Furyk helped the Americans win the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal as a player in 2007.

"Royal Montreal holds some unforgettable memories for me, as I know it does for so many other players and fans that witnessed the 2007 Presidents Cup," Furyk said. "The golf course is a perfect setting for match play, and I know the passionate Canadian golf fans will create an amazing atmosphere onsite, delivering an extremely special iteration of the event."

The U.S. has won 12 of 14 editions of the Presidents Cup and hasn't lost to the International team since 1998.

Mike Weir was previously named captain of the International team.
