Block misses cut at Charles Schwab Challenge

Michael Block's fairytale run has hit a bit of a snag.

The 46-year-old club pro missed the cut Friday at the Charles Schwab Challenge after plummeting to last place through the opening two rounds.

He shot an abysmal 81 on Thursday in his first appearance since becoming a viral sensation at the PGA Championship, and he fired a 74 in Round 2 to finish 15 over.

Despite the disappointment, Block was in high spirits Friday afternoon.

"I think I felt the wrath of the golf gods this week, which, I get it," Block said, according to Golf Channel's Colby Powell. "I completely get it, and I don't blame them for it because they gave me a lot of positive things last week."

Block garnered national attention at Oak Hill earlier in May.

He dunked a hole-in-one in the final round and booked his place in the 2024 PGA Championship after finishing tied for 15th. Block was emotional after accomplishing the feat.

He earned a sponsor exemption to the Charles Schwab Challenge and also accepted an invite to participate in the Canadian Open in early June.
