Tiger commits to Hero World Challenge in Bahamas

Tiger Woods will make his return to the course later this month at the Hero World Challenge, he announced Saturday.

The 15-time major champion hasn't played competitively since withdrawing from the Masters in April. Woods hosts the Hero World Challenge - which is recognized as an unofficial money event by the PGA TOUR - each year, with the upcoming edition set to run from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3.

The 47-year-old underwent ankle surgery shortly after leaving Augusta National early but said earlier in November that he's fully recovered from the operation. Woods conceded that he still feels pain in the rest of his leg stemming from previous procedures.

The field for this year's Hero World Challenge features many of the world's best players, including Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Justin Thomas, and Max Homa.

It remains unclear what lies ahead for Woods for the upcoming season beyond his first commitment. He's participated in the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, each of the past two years, and this season's edition is scheduled for Dec. 14-17.
