Robert MacIntyre withdrew from the BMW Championship during the third round Saturday due to a lower-back injury, the TOUR announced.
MacIntyre was well off the lead after opening his tournament with scores of 72 and 71. However, he remains in good position to qualify for next week's TOUR Championship at East Lake. The top 30 on the season-long points list make it to the finale, and the Scotsman is projected to be 21st.
MacIntyre, 28, collected the first two wins of his career this season with victories at the Canadian Open and Scottish Open.
World No. 6 Hideki Matsuyama also withdrew from the tournament due to a back injury Friday.
