Charles Barkley blasts PGA TOUR, LIV: 'These guys are so idiotic'
Charles Barkley has seemingly had enough of the drama between the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf.
"I wish these fools would quit screwing around, LIV and the PGA TOUR," the NBA icon and golf enthusiast said during an appearance on "Gravy & The Sleeze," per SiriusXM's Jason Sobel.
"I don't know what the hell they're doing. They're so stupid. These guys are so idiotic. They need to be playing against each other (more than) the majors. It would be beneficial for both tours."
The PGA and Saudi Public Investment Fund announced a framework agreement to reintegrate the two circuits in June 2023, but it appears little progress has been made since then.
In August, PGA TOUR commissioner Jay Monahan asked for patience, emphasizing that he's aiming to achieve "the best and right outcome at the right time."
Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, expressed concerns about what might happen if talks between the two sides continue to drag on.
"If it doesn't happen soon, then honestly, I think PIF and the Saudis are going to have to look at alternative options, right?" he said. "I think that's probably the next step in all this if something doesn't get done."
The Northern Irishman added that, because of the split between the PGA TOUR and LIV, the sport isn't putting out the "absolute best product."
Some of the top stars in men's golf from both sides of the fence will square off in a made-for-TV event on Dec. 17, when PGA TOUR staples McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler take on LIV stars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in Las Vegas.
PIF has reportedly been searching for a new LIV Golf CEO to replace Greg Norman in recent months, though he will remain with the golf league in a different role.
