Nick Taylor beat Nico Echavarria in a playoff Sunday to win the Sony Open and seal his fifth career PGA TOUR victory.

Taylor earned the victory with a birdie on the second playoff hole. He made a four on the par-5 18th despite launching his tee shot into the bunker. Echavarria opened the door for Taylor to win with a three-putt par.

Taylor was 1-over par through seven holes Sunday, then reeled off four consecutive birdies to put himself into contention. He grabbed the clubhouse lead with a chip-in eagle on his 72nd hole of the tournament.

"It was a tough day, I was 1-over through seven," Taylor said. "Not really thinking about winning necessarily."

"I'm a bit stunned this has worked out this way."

Taylor is now 3-0 in playoffs in his career. He topped Charley Hoffman at last year's WM Phoenix Open, and Tommy Fleetwood at the 2023 Canadian Open - the most famous victory of his career.

Taylor and Echavarria finished the tournament at 16-under. J.J. Spaun entered the final round with the lead, but he missed a birdie putt on the 18th hole for a chance to join the playoff.

Here's a look at the final leaderboard:
