The Deutsche Bank Championship field is considerably weaker after several big names bowed out of the second event of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell withdrew Monday after his wife gave birth to their first child. England's Paul Casey withdrew for a similar reason as his wife is due next Monday.
Spain's Sergio Garcia and England's Justin Rose both dropped out to get some rest before playing the BMW Championship next week and the Ryder Cup at the end of September.
Jason Dufner also withdrew due to bulging discs in his neck, ending his season.
