Commissioner Finchem calls snag with Olympic golf course a 'red herring'
The Rio 2016 Olympics are just under two years away, but the Olympic golf course is supposed to be open a year before the Games. While construction may still be halted on the course, commissioner Tim Finchem isn't worried about what may become a disaster.
"The state prosecutor is asking for the papers to show the work is proceeding according to the law," Rio 2016 spokesperson Mario Andrada told the Associated Press in June.
Finchem told Rex Hoggard Tuesday, "Our legal people we talk to say that this is a red herring."
While Finchem is calm about the course's status, the course looks anything but ready for golfers at a 2015 test event. Here is an aerial view of the course from last month.
