Robert Allenby on alleged incident: 'I only told you what I know'
It's not that Robert Allenby didn't want to tell the media what happened, it's that he couldn't.
That's the story the PGA pro stuck to while speaking to media on Tuesday for the first time since his alleged kidnapping and beating after failing to make the cut at the Sony Open in Honolulu.
"I have absolutely no memory from 11:06 p.m. until 1:27 a.m. that night," Allenby repeated. "Nothing in my brain, nothing.
"I only told you what I know and I told you what people told me."
He went on to say that - given the concussion he suffered - he had trouble recalling his own phone number.
When asked what he learned in the past 10 days, Allenby paused before turning attention to the reporters asking him questions.
"I don't have any friends in the media," he said. "Maybe one. That's it."
Allenby went on to say he doesn't expect much from the Phoenix Open, just that he's glad to be back on the course.
The press conference concluded with a reporter asking him if he had taken a blood test to check for any drugs in his system, to which he responded "Yes," before promptly walking off the podium.
