A documentary profiling the wild life of two-time major champion John Daly will be released as part of ESPN's "30 for 30" series, the network announced at Tuesday's ESPN Upfronts.

According to Yahoo's Ryan Ballengee, this is only the second "30 for 30" installment featuring golf, following the documentary "June 17, 1994," which mentioned Arnold Palmer's final U.S. Open tournament among several other events.

Daly came to prominence after winning the 1991 PGA Championship, where he went in as the ninth alternate, and earning that year's PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. He earned his second major title at the British Open in 1995.

The 49-year-old has been in the news in recent months for calling the PGA's drug testing a "joke" and appearing behind the bar at a Chicago White Sox game.

The announcement quickly caught fire on social media due to Daly's well-documented struggles with alcohol and gambling, along with his his larger-than-life personality.

ESPN revealed there will be 30 new documentaries released for this "30 for 30" season, including films about the Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield fight, Pete Carroll, and the 1990s Buffalo Bills, who lost four consecutive Super Bowls.
