Pedro Strop had an eventful Wednesday.

Early in the day, the Chicago Cubs reliever reported his car had been stolen, and he was talking to police as his team's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers was underway.

"I was still giving them my information in the fourth inning, and I told them, 'I have to go. I might have to pitch,'" Strop said, according to Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

Sure enough, Strop was called upon to close out the ninth inning after the Cubs' bullpen surrendered three runs in the eighth to make it a one-run game. Strop worked around a leadoff walk to preserve the 7-6 victory at Wrigley Field.

Not only was his car stolen, but it was also used in a police chase, Strop told Rogers. He doesn't know any further details.

The veteran said the situation wasn't weighing on him when he took the mound, even with the matter not resolved yet.

"It was a crazy day," Strop said. "I'm still dealing with it."
