For the second consecutive year, Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman and Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado were announced as the recipients of the Platinum Glove awards, which are awarded to the best defensive player in each league.

Chapman is now the owner of two Platinum Gloves to go along with two Gold Gloves. The 26-year-old recorded 18 defensive runs saved, tops among MLB third basemen, while his 14.8 UZR led all big-league players.

Arenado has won three straight Platinum Gloves in the NL and recently took home his seventh straight Gold Glove.

The Rockies superstar led all NL third basemen in UZR and recorded eight defensive runs saved.

Chapman and Arenado were high school teammates at El Toro High in Lake Forest, California.

In 2009, Arenado, a senior at the time, was a shortstop and his backup was Chapman, a sophomore who only played short when Arenado pitched.
