Chicago White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal recently caused a stir by saying the 3,000-hit plateau is "very reachable," and even his teammates seemed to have noticed.

On Friday, multiple White Sox players donned T-shirts with a remade poster for the movie "Mr. 3,000," featuring Madrigal's likeness and name in place of Bernie Mac's.

2019 AL batting champ Tim Anderson, first base prospect Andrew Vaughn, outfielder Adam Eaton, and Madrigal himself all wore the shirts, according to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Madrigal, 24, made his major-league debut last year, collecting 35 hits and slashing .340/.376/.369 over 29 games in the pandemic-shortened campaign.

Over MLB history, 32 players have joined the 3,000-hit club, 26 of whom are in the Hall of Fame. The six players not in Cooperstown include all-time hit king Pete Rose - whose gambling scandal rendered him permanently ineligible for the Hall - as well as Albert Pujols, Adrian Beltre, Alex Rodriguez, and Ichiro Suzuki, who have not yet been eligible for induction.
