Latifi out of UFC Columbus fight vs. Oleinik due to illness
UFC Columbus has lost a fight on the day of the event.
Ilir Latifi has been removed from his main-card heavyweight bout against Aleksei Oleinik due to an illness unrelated to COVID-19, the UFC announced Saturday.
As a result, the welterweight tilt between Neil Magny and Max Griffin moved up to the main card.
Latifi was set to make his first Octagon appearance since last June when he defeated Tanner Boser to climb to 1-1 as a heavyweight. Latifi moved up a division in 2020 after competing at 205 pounds throughout the first 12 matchups of his UFC tenure.
Oleinik was looking to earn his 60th professional victory and snap a three-fight skid.
The Fight Night card will proceed with 12 contests, including the heavyweight main event between Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus, at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
