Report: O'Malley-Munhoz in the works for UFC 276
The UFC is finalizing a bantamweight showdown between Sean O'Malley and Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276, sources told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
The 135-pound bout will be added to the July 2 card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
O'Malley (15-1) is coming off a first-round TKO win over Raulian Paiva at UFC 269 last December. The proposed match would mark the 27-year-old's first top-10 opponent since joining the promotion. "Sugar" is currently ranked No. 13 within the division.
Munhoz (19-7) is the 10th-ranked fighter in the bantamweight division. The Brazilian is currently in a slump, losing by unanimous decision to Dominick Cruz and Jose Aldo in his last two fights. His last victory came via unanimous decision against Jimmie Rivera at a UFC Fight Night event in February 2021.
A middleweight clash between Sean Strickland and Alex Pereira is also expected to join the card after initially being scheduled for UFC 277, sources told Nolan King and Farrah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
