The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in signing 10-year veteran Moe Harkless after he worked out and met with the team, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania on Friday.

The 29-year-old would bolster Los Angeles' wing depth. Aside from LeBron James, the only Lakers forwards receiving playing time are former Golden State Warrior Juan Toscano-Anderson and undrafted free agent Matt Ryan.

Harkless had an eventful offseason. The Sacramento Kings traded him to the Atlanta Hawks in July, who then dealt him to the Oklahoma City Thunder in September before he was sent to the Houston Rockets three days later. The Rockets released him in October.

The strong perimeter defender suited up for 621 career games and 371 career starts for the Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and Kings since being drafted in 2012.

Harkless averages 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game but only shoots 32% from 3-point range, including just 29.2% over the last two seasons.

The 0-2 Lakers are shooting 19-of-85 (22.4%) from beyond the arc in 2022-23, the second-worst rate in the NBA.
