2024 MLB Draft lottery: A's, Royals, Rockies own best odds for No. 1 pick
Major League Baseball's lottery for the 2024 draft takes place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET (MLB Network) during the winter meetings in Nashville.
Country singer Brad Paisley will serve as a guest presenter for the event.
Implemented in 2022, all non-playoff teams have a shot at landing the No. 1 pick with odds weighted based on reverse standings. The lottery only determines the first six picks. After that, teams will be slotted in for Nos. 7-18 based on the reverse order of the standings.
The Pittsburgh Pirates won the draft lottery last season and selected pitcher Paul Skenes first overall.
The Washington Nationals are ineligible to win the lottery due to MLB rules regarding revenue sharing and market size. They cannot pick higher than 10th after selecting second in 2023.
