Butler expects A's to 'own it' in Sacramento next year

Oakland Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler is optimistic about what the club can accomplish when it moves to Sacramento next season.

The A's are scheduled to play three seasons at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento before eventually moving to Las Vegas.

"We already said we're going to own it," Butler told "Foul Territory" on Friday. "Everybody's going to come in there, disappointed, playing in a Triple-A stadium, but we play here every day, so we're used to it."

Sutter Health Park is home to the Sacramento River Cats, the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate. The River Cats are expected to play home games on days when the Athletics aren't in town.

The Athletics own baseball's fifth-best record since the All-Star break at 18-12. Butler said he believes the team can carry over momentum and challenge for a postseason spot in 2025.

"We still don't want to lose, we still want to win, we still can make the playoffs," Butler said. "Triple-A stadium, MLB stadium, it don't matter. We're still going to go out there and win all these games and do what we've been doing this second half of the season."

Butler is hitting .291 with four home runs and an .859 OPS across 110 at-bats since the All-Star break.
