The San Diego Padres agreed to a minor-league deal with catcher Elias Díaz, reports Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Díaz was released by the Colorado Rockies on Aug. 16 after hitting .270/.315/.378 with five home runs and 36 RBIs in 84 games.

From a defensive standpoint, the 33-year-old ranks in the 77th percentile in framing and 85th percentile in pop time this season.

Díaz produced his best campaigns in 2021 with 18 homers and a .774 OPS and in 2023 with 14 homers and 72 RBIs to make his first All-Star team.

The 2023 All-Star Game MVP provides the Padres with additional catching depth behind Kyle Higashioka and Luis Campusano at the big-league level.
