Peyton Manning is rooting for a rookie quarterback to break an undesirable record of his this season.

The Hall of Famer told "The Pat McAfee Show" on Friday he'd like to see someone surpass his mark for the most interceptions thrown by a rookie, ideally the Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels or Chicago Bears' Caleb Williams.

"You know, rookie quarterbacks, it's always a little struggle with me. I've wanted to get that interception record that I hold broken," Manning said. "I don't want (Denver Broncos QB) Bo Nix to break it ... but you know, if the quarterback in Washington or Chicago wants to break it, I'm still pulling for 'em. I'm a quarterback fan (but) I got to get that one off my resume."

Manning then jokingly offered some advice to the rookie quarterbacks' respective teams.

"If they struggle early, leave him in there," Manning said. "Don't take him out because that's the only way you're gonna get to 28 interceptions. Plus that's how you learn, leave him in there. Learn how not to throw that fourth interception. But you take him out, I'm just telling you, you don't learn as much."

Manning set the record after being drafted first overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 1998. The Colts finished 3-13 that season while Manning completed 56.7% of his passes for 3,739 yards with 26 touchdowns to 28 interceptions.
