Chris Paul may be warming up to the idea of becoming a coach one day.

The San Antonio Spurs guard shot down the idea of coaching in the past, but he told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News that it's something he's now willing to consider.

"I was talking to my wife today because I have always said I would never coach. But just thinking about it, I don't know. Trying to figure it out," he said. "My wife and friends are always telling me I have so much knowledge and love for the game that I could coach. But I also think about being a dad because I have missed so much of my kids' lives. So, yeah, I don't know."

Paul also revealed in the interview that he's "definitely" interested in getting involved in NBA ownership after retirement.

A number of NBA general managers see a future for Paul in coaching. He was voted as the active player who would make the best head coach in the league's annual GM survey.

The 39-year-old is entering his 20th season in the NBA and his first with the Spurs, with whom he signed a one-year, $11-million deal in free agency.
