Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano is a candidate to be non-tendered ahead of Friday's deadline, sources told Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun.

Romano is projected to earn $7.75 million in his final year of arbitration, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The 31-year-old is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the 2025 campaign.

Romano struggled in 2024, registering a 6.59 ERA with eight saves across 15 appearances before going down with an elbow injury that eventually required arthroscopic surgery.

The Markham, Ontario native made his MLB debut for his hometown Blue Jays in 2019. Romano developed into a two-time All-Star, racking up 97 saves with a 2.29 ERA and 11.3 K/9 from 2020-2023.

Romano's 105 career saves are third on the franchise's all-time list behind Tom Henke and Duane Ward.
