Each player was given five minutes for fighting, and Crosby received an additional minor for cross-checking. Crosby had been credited with nine scraps in his career before Friday, according to hockeyfights.com. Connor didn't have any fights to his name.
"We're not taking shit from anybody," Connor said after the contest, according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press.
The Jets were up 3-0 at the time of the unlikely tilt, and went on to win 4-1 as Connor completed a Gordie Howe hat trick with an empty-net tally.
The Penguins fell to 7-11-4 and are in last place in the Metropolitan Division.
