Mohamed Salah would commit to Liverpool for an extra season despite his frustration over the pace of contract negotiations with the club, according to The Athletic's Simon Hughes.

The Egyptian attacker, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, is still reportedly waiting to find out Liverpool's stance over the duration and terms written into any potential new deal. He can discuss a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England starting Jan. 1, 2025.

Salah was linked with a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain next summer but the serial Ligue 1 winners have denied they're in talks with the 32-year-old, Hughes reports. It's understood Salah's uncertain future has alerted other top European clubs.

The former Roma winger has been outspoken about his desire to stay at Liverpool. He said he was "more out than in" following a win over Southampton on Nov. 24. He then suggested he was mentally preparing for Sunday's 2-0 win over Manchester City to be the last time he'd face the reigning Premier League champions at Anfield.

"Honestly, it's in my head," he said after assisting Cody Gakpo and converting a penalty to help Liverpool go nine points clear of Arsenal and Chelsea in first place.

He added, "The atmosphere was incredible, so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully, we just win the league and will see what will happen."
