The Washington Nationals will have the top pick in the 2025 MLB Draft after winning Tuesday's draft lottery.

The Nationals had the fourth-highest odds of securing the top pick at 10.20%. It will be the third time in franchise history that Washington will pick first overall.

The Nationals selected right-hander Stephen Strasburg first overall in 2009 and outfielder Bryce Harper the following year.

It was a tough evening for the Miami Marlins, who had the second-highest odds of landing the top pick but will select seventh overall.

The Toronto Blue Jays had the fifth-highest odds of picking first and hold the eighth selection.

The Chicago White Sox were ineligible to pick inside the top 10 despite posting the worst record in modern history in 2024. The White Sox weren't eligible as teams that contribute to revenue sharing can't be in the lottery in consecutive seasons, per the collective bargaining agreement.

High school infielder Ethan Holliday is considered the favorite to be taken first overall. Holliday is the son of former All-Star Matt Holliday and brother of Baltimore Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday, who was taken first overall in 2022.
