Starting pitcher Cal Quantrill agreed to join the Miami Marlins on a one-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.

The deal is worth $3.5 million, according to Craig Mish of the Miami Herald.

Quantrill, 30, made 29 starts for the Colorado Rockies in 2024. He recorded a 4.98 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 148 1/3 innings pitched while walking a National League-high 69 batters.

The righty fared much better during his time with the Cleveland Guardians. He struggled in 2023 but worked to a 3.38 ERA across 32 starts in 2022 and accrued 1.9 fWAR in a swingman role in 2021.

The Canadian profiles as a durable back-of-the-rotation starter and potential trade deadline chip for the rebuilding Marlins.

He was the eighth overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft.
