Former New York Mets general manager Billy Eppler, who was suspended from working in MLB last season, has joined the Milwaukee Brewers as a special advisor, sources told SNY's Andy Martino.

Eppler's role with the Brewers will include advising the front office in scouting and general baseball operations, according to Martino.

Eppler served as the Mets' GM for two full seasons before resigning in October 2023 while under investigation for manipulation of the league's injured list rules. He'd been slated to continue as GM under David Stearns until leaving the team.

MLB placed Eppler on its ineligible list for one year last February after an investigation revealed he improperly used the IL by deliberately fabricating player injuries in 2022 and 2023. No other Mets employees were found to be involved.

His suspension officially concluded following the final game of last year's World Series.

The 49-year-old Eppler was first hired as GM of the Mets in November 2021, replacing a series of acting executives who had held the role. His Mets won 101 games and made the playoffs as a wild-card team in 2022 but sunk to 75-87 the following season.

Prior to joining the Mets, Eppler spent five seasons as GM of the Los Angeles Angels.
