Yelich: Brewers' 0-4 start is 'unacceptable'

Christian Yelich isn't sugarcoating the Milwaukee Brewers' miserable start to the season.

The Brewers were dismantled 11-1 in their home opener Monday and fell to 0-4 to start the season for the first time since 2015.

"It's just four games, but we've got to do better. It's unacceptable to do that over the first four games," Yelich said, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. "There's different kinds of losses, but we have to be better than that. And we will be."

The Brewers tied an MLB record by allowing 47 runs through the first four games of the season, according to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Milwaukee was the surprise of baseball in 2024, winning 93 games and an NL Central title in a year where many predicted they would miss the postseason.

Brewers pitchers allowed a league-high 17 home runs through the first four games this season. The rotation has been decimated by injury. Brandon Woodruff, Tobias Myers, Aaron Ashby, and Aaron Civale are all currently sidelined.

"Pitchers have had our back over the years here many times, they've picked us up, so, things will straighten out," Yelich said.

The Brewers are turning to right-hander Chad Patrick, who will make his first MLB start when the club looks for its first win of the season against the Royals on Tuesday.
