The Baltimore Orioles' depleted starting rotation is welcoming back a familiar face for their upcoming series against the New York Yankees.

Right-hander Kyle Gibson will start and make his season debut against the Bronx Bombers on Tuesday in Baltimore, manager Brandon Hyde announced.

Gibson was building up in the minors after signing a one-year, $5.25-million contract with the Orioles in late March and missing most of spring training.

The 37-year-old returns to Baltimore after winning 15 games and posting a 4.13 FIP across 192 innings with the club in 2023.

Gibson spent 2024 with the St. Louis Cardinals, authoring a 4.24 ERA in 169 2/3 innings.

The Orioles' rotation ranks 28th in ERA and last in the majors in FIP, with injuries sidelining several starters, including Grayson Rodriguez, Zach Eflin, and Kyle Bradish.
