The Calgary Flames signed forward Matt Coronato to a seven-year contract extension worth $6.5 million per season, the team announced.

Coronato was scheduled for restricted free agency this summer upon the expiration of his entry-level contract. He broke out with 24 goals and 47 points this season, his first full campaign in the NHL.

The Flames drafted Coronato 13th overall in 2021. He played two seasons at Harvard after being chosen and posted an impressive 42 points in 41 games as an AHL rookie in 2023-24.

"Matt wants to be here long term, and that says a lot about him and where this is kind of going, moving forward," general manager Craig Conroy said.

Coronato's new contract makes him Calgary's third highest-paid player on an annual basis behind Jonathan Huberdeau ($10.5 million) and Nazem Kadri ($7 million).

Morgan Frost, Connor Zary, Adam Klapka, and Kevin Bahl are notable RFAs remaining on Calgary's books. The Flames have approximately $17.8 million in cap space, according to PuckPedia.
