New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is "super excited" to play alongside No. 3 pick Abdul Carter.

"I think (Carter's) a great player. We can use him in a lot of different ways," Thibodeaux said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "I'm excited to see him come in and grind and (see) what we're going to get."

They'll also be teaming up with two-time Pro Bowler Brian Burns, who's coming off an 8.5-sack campaign in his first season with the Giants. Thibodeaux described the outside linebacker trio as "tweeners" due to their versatility.

"If you look at my skill set, Brian's skill set ... Brian can rush inside. I can rush inside," Thibodeaux said. "He can rush from depth. I can rush from depth, being at that linebacker position. So can Abdul.

"We'll see how they mix it up. But we'll all be on the field at some point."

There was some speculation that New York could trade Thibodeaux after selecting Carter. But the Giants instead picked up the fifth-year option on Thibodeaux's contract, tying him to the franchise through the 2026 campaign.

"It's another step. For me, it's just more fuel," Thibodeaux said. "Definitely blessed and humbled to be in a position to have another year in the league. ... I'm super blessed, super excited, energized. We have a great team, and we'll go do some good things."

Thibodeaux has averaged just over eight sacks per season across three years in New York after the franchise drafted him with the fifth pick in 2022. He tallied a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2024 while starting every game. Thibodeaux missed time this past season with a wrist injury.
