The San Francisco 49ers agreed to terms on a three-year, $63-million extension for linebacker Fred Warner, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Warner's new deal includes over $56 million in guaranteed money and makes him the league's highest-paid linebacker. This marks the second time Warner's become the highest-paid player at his position after the five-year, $95-million extension he signed in 2021.

The four-time first-team All-Pro has been a fixture of the 49ers' defense since the team selected him in the third round of the 2018 draft. The 28-year-old BYU product has led San Francisco in tackles for seven straight seasons, posting at least 115 tackles each year.

The Niners continue to lock up key veterans ahead of minicamp in June. They gave tight end George Kittle a four-year, $76.4-million extension in April and agreed to terms last week on a five-year, $265-million extension for quarterback Brock Purdy.

San Francisco engaged in lengthy contract negotiations with star players in past years. Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, and Brandon Aiyuk didn't finalize their new agreements without missing at least a portion of training camp.

Warner recorded 131 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles in 2024 despite playing through a small fracture in his ankle in the final 13 games. Warner said he needed to take painkilling injections to make it through to the end of last season, in which he earned a Pro Bowl and All-Pro nod.
