Lamine Yamal signed a new contract with Barcelona that runs until June 2031, the Catalan club announced Tuesday.

"A contract extension for Lamine Yamal is another demonstration of the solidity of the current Barca project," the club said in a statement.

Barca president Joan Laporta and the teenage star's agent, Jorge Mendes, met Monday to finalize the new deal after months of negotiations, sources told Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens of ESPN.

Yamal's previous deal, inked in 2023, was set to expire next year. As he was younger than 18 at the time, he was only allowed to sign a three-year pact.

The Spanish winger turns 18 in July.

Yamal's new contract will reportedly feature a significant wage increase. Laporta said earlier this month the teenager requires "special treatment" from the club, adding that his salary "has to be in line with his performances, not his age."

Yamal scored 18 goals and recorded 25 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions this past season, delivering several mesmerizing performances that helped Hansi Flick's team claim a domestic treble.

His new contract will reportedly include several individual incentives and bonuses, including one for winning the Ballon d'Or.

Yamal is considered one of the frontrunners for the coveted award this year, along with teammate Raphinha, who just extended his Barca contract.
