The Philadelphia Phillies announced first baseman Bryce Harper exited Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Atlanta Braves with a bruised elbow after being hit by a pitch from Spencer Strider in the first inning.

Initial X-rays on Harper's elbow came back negative.

The two-time MVP keeled over in apparent pain and was helped off the field by trainers after being plunked by a 95-mph fastball.

Edmundo Sosa replaced Harper as a pinch runner and stayed in the game defensively at third base. Alec Bohm shifted over to first after starting the game at the hot corner.

Harper entered the game having slashed .308/.375/.484 with a 139 wRC+ in May after a somewhat uncharacteristic April. He has eight home runs and 33 RBIs this season.

The Phillies extended their lead over the Braves in the NL East standings to 9.5 games with the victory.
