The Dallas Stars made a quick goalie change after a disastrous start to Game 5 on Thursday.

Jake Oettinger was pulled from the contest after Corey Perry and Mattias Janmark scored on the Edmonton Oilers' first two shots just seven minutes into Dallas' must-win matchup.

Oettinger appeared to be heading back into the net following a timeout after the second goal, but he was called back to the bench.

It was the fastest pull of Oettinger's career, according to Sportsnet Stats.

Casey DeSmith replaced his running mate in net, though he didn't fare much better to start. Oilers forward Jeff Skinner beat him for his first career playoff goal soon after DeSmith entered the game.

Jason Robertson got Dallas on the board before the end of the opening frame.

Oettinger owned a .919 save percentage and 2.47 goals against average versus the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets in the first two rounds of the playoffs. He struggled facing Edmonton, though, posting an .869 clip and 3.55 goals against average in the first four games of the series.

DeSmith appeared in only one other matchup this postseason. He entered Game 4 versus the Avalanche in relief of Oettinger, allowing one goal on 14 shots.

He surrendered three goals on 20 shots as the Oilers beat the Stars 6-3 on Thursday to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight year.
