The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Anthony Santander on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation.

Toronto is still determining the extent of the injury after Santander underwent an MRI on Thursday, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.

The 30-year-old has struggled in his first season with the Blue Jays, slashing .179/.273/.304 with six home runs and 18 RBIs after signing a five-year, $92.5-million deal in January. The slugger hit 44 homers for the Baltimore Orioles last year.

Santander hasn't recorded a hit since May 24 against the Tampa Bay Rays and has struck out six times in his last five games.

The 2024 All-Star joins second baseman Andrés Giménez (quad) and catcher Tyler Heineman (concussion) among Blue Jays position players on the IL.

Toronto recalled outfielder Alan Roden from Triple-A to take Santander's spot on the active roster.
