The New York Knicks made an offer to the Phoenix Suns for star Kevin Durant at the trade deadline, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Both the Knicks and Durant shared a mutual interest in getting a deal done at the time, Charania adds.

The Suns reportedly fielded calls from several teams about Durant ahead of the deadline but ultimately decided to keep him in hopes of a playoff run. However, Phoenix limped to the end of the regular season, finishing with a 36-46 record and missing the postseason despite having the league's most expensive roster.

With the disappointment behind them, the Suns are apparently looking to rebuild around Devin Booker and are aggressively pursuing a Durant trade. The club has reportedly lowered its asking price for the 15-time All-Star, and four to six contending teams are expected to show interest.

Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 62 games this past campaign. The 36-year-old will make $54.7 million in 2025-26 and is set to become a free agent next summer.

The Knicks are coming off their first Eastern Conference finals appearance in 25 years. Despite the progress, New York fired head coach Tom Thibodeau on Tuesday and is expected to make roster changes this summer, per Charania.
