Conor McGregor wants to make his UFC return at the event proposed by President Donald Trump in 2026.

"Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House," McGregor wrote Friday on X. "I would be honored! Count me in!"

Trump said Thursday he's thinking of hosting a UFC event on the White House grounds next year to celebrate 250 years of American independence. There would be at least 20,000 spectators in attendance, he said.

McGregor, the biggest star in MMA history, hasn't stepped into the Octagon since July 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier. The 36-year-old Irishman was scheduled to return to action at UFC 303 last summer against Michael Chandler, but he withdrew from the fight two weeks before the event after suffering a toe injury.

UFC CEO Dana White said in May he didn't see McGregor fighting "any time soon."

McGregor, who became the first UFC fighter to hold two titles simultaneously in 2016, has two fights left on his contract.

McGregor visited the White House in March to meet with Trump. He also addressed the press, expressing concern about Ireland's current political landscape.
