The Miami Marlins opted to keep ace Sandy Alcantara despite plenty of buzz about the 2022 Cy Young winner potentially being moved before Thursday's trade deadline.

The Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres were reportedly among the teams interested in acquiring Alcantara to bolster their rotations heading into the stretch run.

Alcantara is under contract with the Marlins through 2026 and his deal contains a club option for 2027. He's 6-9 this season with a 6.36 ERA after missing all of 2024 due to Tommy John surgery.

The 29-year-old established himself as one of the top pitchers in the majors before the injury.

The Marlins are 52-55 on the season, seven games back of a wild-card spot. Miami's only reached the playoffs twice since winning their last World Series in 2003.
