Schottenheimer curious about Parsons' etiquette in exhibition tilt

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer will meet with Micah Parsons to discuss the disgruntled edge rusher's etiquette throughout Friday's preseason finale.

Parsons was the only Cowboys player not to wear a jersey against the Atlanta Falcons. He also momentarily laid down on a medical table behind the Cowboys' bench.

"Without talking to Micah, I need to figure out what he was doing and why he was doing it," Schottenheimer told reporters Saturday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "So, until I talk to him, I'm obviously not going to talk about it."

Parsons has been sitting out practice since early August, shortly after he requested a trade. He's cited back tightness for his absences, though Schottenheimer said his MRI came back "pretty clean."

Parsons' discontent stems from sour contract negotiations. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has stoked the saga throughout training camp, in part by blaming Parsons' agent for nixing a verbal agreement between him and the player.

The Cowboys open the season Sept. 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Schottenheimer said he expects his star defender to be available.
