New York Mets superstar Juan Soto is now in a club that few thought he'd ever join.

Soto clinched the first 30-30 season of his remarkable career by notching his 30th stolen base of the season during Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He achieved the feat by swiping third in the eighth inning of an eventual 9-3 Phillies win.

Soto entered the game with 38 homers. He's the fifth Mets player to join the 30-30 club after Darryl Strawberry (1987), David Wright (2007), Francisco Lindor (2023), and Howard Johnson (1987, 1989, and 1991).

Speed has been a shocking new addition to Soto's game. His previous career high in stolen bases was 12, which he accomplished twice. Last season, while with the New York Yankees, he only swiped seven bags in 11 attempts.

Not only has Soto stolen more bases this year, he's been incredibly efficient, having been caught stealing just three times. His 90.6% success rate entering play Tuesday ranked fourth in the NL.

Next up for the 26-year-old is the 40-homer, 30-steal club. No Mets player has ever accomplished that feat.

Soto, who joined the Mets on a record 15-year, $765-million contract this past winter, is hitting .261/.399/.522 through 143 games this season. He leads the NL in both OBP and walks (118).
