Historic Fenway Park - the home of the Boston Red Sox - will have a different address than 4 Yawkey Way going forward.

After the Red Sox petitioned the city of Boston to rename Yawkey Way back to Jersey Street, the change was voted on by the Public Improvement Commission and passed unanimously, according to WCVB Boston.

The Red Sox originally petitioned the city to change the name from Yawkey Way after criticism of the team's former owner, Tom Yawkey, became more and more vocal. The section of Jersey Street with Fenway Park had featured Yawkey's name since 1977 following his death in 1976, while the rest of the road had kept the original name, which will now extend throughout.

Since his death, Yawkey has become a controversial figure, and has been characterized by some as a racist. He ran the Red Sox during integration, when Boston famously became the last team to field a black player - 12 years after Jackie Robinson first broke the barrier.
