Manchester United apparently hasn't spoken with Juventus over the transfer of Paul Pogba.

BBC Sport's Simon Stone reports the two clubs have yet to discuss a potential deal, adding that the France midfielder doesn't want anything to interfere with his preparations ahead of Sunday's Euro 2016 final against Portugal.

There's been widespread transfer tattle regarding Pogba's return to United, despite him leaving the club under acrimonious circumstances in 2012. The Guardian's Jamie Jackson has previously stated a move would be worth around £84 million, although some outlets speculate it could be as much as £100 million.

Juventus is hoping it can persuade Pogba to extend his stay in Turin with fresh terms but, conversely, it's believed the 23-year-old would prefer to move on to another interested club in Real Madrid.

It's unknown whether United intends to open talks with Juventus and the player after the European Championship but Sky Sports said earlier this week that Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, and his client will discuss his options when the tournament ends.

There's a contingency plan at Old Trafford should the Pogba chase fall short. Fellow Frenchman Blaise Matuidi is apparently perceived as an ideal second choice to add some physicality to a midfield that looked languid at times last season when overseen by Louis van Gaal.

Under new manager Jose Mourinho, there's already been significant expenditure in the summer transfer window. Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined on a free transfer, while Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who moved from Villarreal and Borussia Dortmund, respectively, cost around £30 million each.

Mourinho's expected to assume his role in the United technical area for the first time in a friendly at Wigan Athletic on July 16.
