Napoli president's son: Higuain to Juventus rumours 'a hoax'
Eduardo De Laurentiis, the son of Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, has quashed reports that the club's top striker, Gonzalo Higuain, is set to join Juventus, dismissing the rumours as nothing more than "a hoax."
Multiple reports Thursday said the Serie A champion is set to meet the €94.7-million release clause for the Argentina striker.
Eduardo De Laurentiis told La Gazzetta dello Sport, according to ESPN FC: "(The) whole thing is a hoax ... You should not believe everything."
Higuain has been on a number of teams' radars for the summer transfer window, with earlier reports linking him to Arsenal, as well as to a sensational £800,000-per-week offer from Hebei China Fortune.
Despite spurning a potential title-winning chance at the Copa America Centenario, Higuain was historically prolific for Napoli last season, scoring 36 goals in 35 league appearances.
He is currently under contract until 2018.
