Betis secures Sanabria signing from Roma for €7.5 million

Striker Antonio Sanabria became Real Betis' seventh summer signing Friday, joining the La Liga outfit from AS Roma in a €7.5-million deal.

Sanabria signed a five-year contract with Betis, but he could yet play for Roma again. The capital club announced that it has a buyback clause set at an initial €11 million which it can activate at any time over the course of the next three seasons. The fee increases to €14.5 million in the third year.

Roma will also receive 50 percent of any future transfer fee in the event Sanabria is sold.

The 20-year-old Paraguayan spent the past campaign on loan with Sporting Gijon, scoring 11 goals in 29 league appearances to help the Asturian club stave off relegation from the top flight.

Tottenham was reportedly interested in the La Masia product, but Sanabria will instead extend his stay in La Liga.
