AC Milan signs Storari from Cagliari, Gabriel goes the other way
Marco Storari is back.
After representing the Serie A giant AC Milan 13 times between 2007-10 and following moves around the country, Italian goalkeeper Storari is back in the fray, the club announced on Tuesday.
The 40-year-old veteran between the sticks signed a contract that will keep him at the club until at least June 30, 2017 with Milan's reserve 'keeper Gabriel headed to Cagliari in return.
Storari will likely play backup goalie to Gianluigi Donnarumma who has played in all of Milan's matches this year both domestically and in cup action.
The Pisa native spent four years at Milan but had to reside on the bench for the majority of his tenure, due to the fact that Christian Abbiati and Brazilian national star Dida got the nod ahead of him.
The addition of Storari will provide some experience in cover for Donnarumma, following the loan move of Diego Lopez away from the San Siro to Espanyol last summer.
Milan currently sits in fifth place in Serie A and next on the agenda is a Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie at home to Torino on Thursday of this week.
