Juventus seals Orsolini deal for potential €10M fee
Juventus added yet another Italian stud to its stable of youngsters.
Riccardo Orsolini, an exciting winger who also drew significant interest from AC Milan, has joined the Bianconeri from Serie B side Ascoli for an initial €6-million fee. The total could reach €10 million if Orsolini meets performance-related targets, according to a club statement.
The 20-year-old signed a contract with the Old Lady until June 2021. He will remain with Ascoli on loan until the end of the season.
Orsolini is the third Juventus signing of the January transfer window following Tomas Rincon's switch from Genoa and Mattia Caldara's arrival from Atalanta. Like Caldara, who returned to Atalanta this month on an 18-month loan deal, Orsolini joins an ever-expanding constellation of precocious loanees at various clubs around Italy and Europe.
Known for his pace and gaudy dribbling skills, the Italy U-20 international first attracted the attention of Milan before entering negotiations with Juventus. The Rossoneri had reached an agreement with the player, but their incoming Chinese ownership group refused to sanction the move, according to agent Donato Di Campli.
After scoring 17 goals in 21 league appearances with Ascoli's youth team last season, Orsolini earned a promotion to the senior side, where he has earned regular starts for the past year and a half.
A left-footed winger who plays predominantly off the right flank, he would provide competition for Juan Cuadrado.
