Mertens renews Napoli contract until 2020
Dries Mertens and Napoli have finally come to an agreement on a contract renewal, with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis announcing Saturday that the diminutive Belgian attacker has extended his stay at the San Paolo until June of 2020.
Mertens, in the midst of a career season playing as Napoli's primary striker, is sitting on 27 goals heading into Serie A's final weekend, just one behind Roma's Edin Dzeko in the Capocannoniere race.

The 30-year-old, who joined Napoli in 2013 from PSV Eindhoven, had never scored more than 11 Serie A goals in a single season heading into this campaign, but has been the main benefactor of the knee injury that shelved Arkadiusz Milik for the majority of the year.
With the lanky Polish striker sidelined, Mertens stepped in, acting as the focal point of a devastating front-three that includes Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon.
